GRID CONNECT SYSTEMS

Grid Connect Grid Connect Systems are used when you are already using power from the main grid and wish to generate your own power that will supplement that used from the grid.

If, for example,on a sunny day, when not much energy is being used in the house, the panels and
inverter will be feeding energy back into the main grid. (ie to the powerlines on the street). The energy retailer (eg Origin or Country Energy) will pay you for this energy. A 1000W system as shown below will generate about 4KWH of energy a day.

The NSW government has announced a 60c feed in tariff. This means that a 1000W system will return $875 per year and pay for itself in 7 to 9 years. Batteries are not generally used in Grid Connect systems. It’s a simple connection from the Solar Panels to the Inverter and then to the main switch board.

You will need to sign an agreement with the local Electricity Authority but are then free to use other electricity retailers that serve the area and who will who pay for your solar power.
